A Word for HM2 Xin Qi

Petty Officer Second Class Xin Qi, 25, of Cordova, TN, died January 23, 2010, while supporting combat operations in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. His dismounted patrol was reportedly attacked by a suicide bomber.

Doc Qi (Chee) was assigned to Fourth Light Armored Recon Battalion, Marine Expeditionary Brigade - Afghanistan.

He was a reservist and volunteered for the deployment. A commenter in the Memphis paper, responding to the report of Qi's death, wondered what the country was coming to allowing this son of Chinese immigrants to serve under our flag. I saw that and wondered why Qi would want to. We can be such assholes.

Semper Fi, my brother.

May a gracious God be holding him in his arms.

And a pox on the bozo who asked such a stupid question -- in public yet!!!!! He/she should be shot.

When we attended my daughter's graduation from basic at Great Lakes, I remember commenting to my brother, an Army reservist (First Sarge) who is now serving in Iraq, about the diversity among the grads. He answered that for many it was a good chance to escape the barrio, ghetto, etc. and get college paid for. As he put it, in the Navy, everyone is blue.

His detractor might be shocked to know that at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, there is a huge building that holds chapels for all faiths including Buddhists and other Eastern religions.

AQ--Thanks for the report, even though part of it was disturbing.

Kay--Awww...let's not shoot everyone with whom we disagree. You and I might be called upon to dispatch one another because we differ in religious beliefs! I understand your chagrin, however.
